The Why Be You Project offers programs and presentations within the community which work on the principle that there is one truth we cannot escape from - we were ALL teenagers once! As such, we all carry memories, experiences and perhaps hurts and fears into our interactions with teenagers in our lives. How often do we want to protect someone we love going through what we have been through? How often do we presume to know what school is like now and therefore have the perfect solution to what your niece, nephew, neighbour, friend or child is going through?
Raising children is all about working as a team and the expression 'it takes a village to raise a child' becomes the structure that offers a larger family, a network of support that safeguards the young person both physically, emotionally and psychologically. In fact, research shows that our relationship within the community is one of the core determinants of health.
The programs offered through the Why Be You Project focus on understanding, decency and respect in our communication and expression in our homes, work and in education. For more details and a list of upcoming presentations and workshops please go to our events page.
